Robinson R66 Turbine Helicopter Drives U.S. Exports and High Altitude Flight Training in Arizona

December 2011 marked the 100th Robinson R66 Turbine Helicopter to roll off the factory floor in Torrance, California.  And, according to Robinson, "To date, the company has received over 380 R66 orders; more than 70% of those orders are from foreign countries. Foreign sales have consistently accounted for more than 60% of the company’s overall aircraft sales. R66 S/N 0100 was delivered to National Airways Corp. (NAC), Robinson’s longtime dealer in South Africa."

There's more good news.  The high quality R66 Turbine is also driving good business in the U.S.  Guidance Aviation's Turbine Transition Training program in Prescott, Arizona utilizes the Robinson R66 (pictured right) and the program has seen a growth of 450% since its introduction last semester.  The students are enjoying the increased reserve power and improved altitude performance of the R66 Turbine as compared to the popular R44.  And, the improved altitude performance is key for facilities like Guidance which provide high altitude helicopter flight training in the mountainous terrain of Prescott.  Guidance Aviation maintains a fleet of 13 Robinson Helicopters and is a Robinson Certified Maintenance facility. Guidance also has a growing fleet of airplanes including Cirrus and PiperSport.
