Garcia is an engineering student at Embry-Riddle. "I not only wanted to know why the plane flew from an engineering perspective, I wanted to feel the plane and how it flew from a pilot's perspective. I know that being a pilot will help me become a better engineer," stated Garcia. "I would like to work in general aviation, possibly establishing and building a company like Diamond Aircraft in Mexico".
The paperwork to get cleared to fly as a foreign student in the U.S. with Guidance Aviation was relatively painless according to Garcia. "I had already acquired my student F1 Visa for my studies at the university, therefore all I needed was the necessary fingerprinting and international authorization from TSA. I did this online and although TSA stated it could take up to one month, I was cleared and ready to fly in only 4 to 5 days at Guidance Aviation," said Garcia.
"What's great about Guidance is that many of the management personnel there are Embry-Riddle graduates so I feel like I am getting trained by the best of what aviation has to provide. Moreover, the airplanes and simulators (Red Bird Motion Simulator) at Guidance are all new. I get the best of both worlds at Guidance Aviation.
Ricardo soloed in the Piper Sport LSA at Guidance. With a wrap-around canopy and unmatched visibility, the PiperSport LSA is equipped with auto-pilot, ballistic parachute, Garmin 696, integrated XM satellite weather and leather seats.
